Anthony Longden has been a journalist for 36 years, 22 of them spent as an editor and senior editorial executive in various regional companies in the UK including Newsquest, Trinity Mirror and Soutnews. He completed a three-year term as an editorial member of the Press Complaints Commission in September 2012, and was retained as a consultant to assist its chairman Lord Hunt with its closure and the transition to IPSO. He is now a Specialist Partner with London-based crisis communications firm Alder, and a consultant to the Society of Editors. He has sat on the SoE’s Parliamentary and Legal Committee since 1999, and helped draft several of its modules of evidence to the Leveson inquiry. He is also a freelance journalist, an occasional contributor to Slightly Foxed readers’ quarterly, a Director of the Colne Valley Regional Park, and a national and local newspaper awards judge.
